Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Yogurt tampon, possible yeast infection question.?
Okay so right after my last period I was quite itchy. I am not sexually active, so that rules out a lot. I'm guessing it is a yeast infection, I've had a lot of discharge and it has been almost like water...which hasn't happened before. The itching only lasted about a day and a half...I am wondering if I should try a yogurt tampon just in case because the discharge is still an issue. Will this hurt me if I do not have a yeast infection, and is plain Balkan (greek) yogurt the type I should use?

    • ANSWER:
Yogurt on a tampon is a trusted old home remedy, I'm not surprised young women nowadays don't know about it anymore. But I'd personally use natural stuff like yogurt before rushing out to buy the harsher chemical stuff. Plus, if it isn't a yeast infection, then the yogurt won't hurt you a bit.

You need to use plain yogurt with live cultures. Look on the packaging of the Greek yogurt to see if it has those.

But honestly, since the itching has gone, I doubt that you have yeast.

  2. QUESTION:
    Yeast infection and yogurt tampon??
Ive read that if you put plain yogurt on a tampon, and put in your vagina your yeast infection will go away. I have a couple questions about his.

    Has anyone actually done this?

Do you put the yogurt on the plastic part, insert for a couple seconds, than take out? Or do you do the actual tampon? Do you leave it in for a couple of hours if you have to keep in it?

Could you just EAT the yogurt to cure the infection?

If you could do either way, what way has quicker results?

Do you freeze the yogurt on the tampon, or you just stick it in all gooey?

Can some please help and answer my questions!

    • ANSWER:
I've heard that the plain yogurt/tampon thing works pretty well. You need to coat the tampon with yogurt, insert, and keep it inside for a few hours. Some people swear by a tampon soaked in tea tree oil, too. You need to put the yogurt on the actual tampon, not the applicator.

Drink plenty of natural (or organic) cranberry juice...no cocktails or added sugar....get the real stuff...it'll be bitter, but you won't have the sugars in your system to feed the infection.

The best thing you can do is to try to find what is causing your yeast infections...diet, soaps, etc etc etc.

  3. QUESTION:
I want to try the "yogurt tampon" technique to get rid of yeast infection, is 5g of sugar too much?
I can't find a plain, organic, SUGAR FREE yogurt. The lowest sugar level I could find was 5 grams. Do you think this is okay?

  5. QUESTION:
How can i cure my yeast infection with a tampon and yogurt?
ive been reading articles on how to cure my yeast infection at home and a lot
of them said that dipping a tampon that contained live cultures and then inserting it in your vagina works really well so i want to try it because it sounds easy and sounds like its not much work but ive never used a tampon before (im 15 years old) so i dont know what to do. i really dont want to have to tell my mom because we are not close at all i really want to ge rid of it im soo tired of having it. i get tons of discharge and its discusting ive been having yeast infection for more than 2 years straight i know this sounds pretty gross but i dont know what to do anymore i just want to get rid of it FAST ... also do you think i should try the tampon thing??

    thanxxz

    • ANSWER:
When it comes to stuff like that don't do home remedies. They don't work. Also the cultures don't cure the infection. It only regulates the PH after the fact and you eat it for it to work. Since you can't get rid of it on your own go to a doctor. Also I doubt you would have had it for 2 years straight. You would have some serious damage to your reproductive organs right now and you would have PID.
